Open world Hero/Villain game

Submitted by monsieurdonuts 6 months Ago

The game would be an open world superhero game, in which you create your own superhero or villain and save people or wreak havoc in the city, this would be for x-box 360 and ps3 most likely, (and I know right now it sounds like city of heroes but there is a definite storyline rather than a flimsy do a mission get a power-up based style) also there would be a section of the game that is somewhat like a training room, where you can create your own enemies and surroundings (like the danger room in x-men) and also, like GTA and saints row, every civilian can be attacked by you or by a CPU in the game (such as an automated gang member, mafia or villain), in which case if you are a hero you could help them, but even a hero's powers could harm civilians. Powers would be selected at the beginning of the game, once you receive enough of some sort of currency you could buy upgrades for your powers, mobility, or you could buy clothes for your outfit. (costume could be changed at any time at home if you have different clothes to change into or at a store if you have currency, like in saints row) powers would range from elemental, to technological, to magical, to kinetic, to morphing, to any other genre of power you could think of (even precision aim). You would be able to choose more than one power also, rather than having to stick to just that one form of power. At the beginning you would choose your name and select your own costume from the few things available, then you could buy new costume parts or pay someone to change your name. Mobility upgrades would include flying, teleporting, speed running, high jumping, vehicle driving/flying (if you're a villain you could hijack one if a hero you could commandeer one, or in either you could buy and upgrade your own (this goes for all vehicles)), grappling and acrobatics (dodging, jumping over cars, running on walls etc.). As you progress in the game you could buy or earn "bases" places where you can save the game, change your clothes, look at/ get out your storage of vehicles and enter your training room (when you first begin you have a base, but it's more like a basement). Not to mention playing split screen, system link or online with a friend in co-op, competitive or versus playing modes. You would also, as the game goes on, be able to purchase items for your training room, or decor for your base. At the beginning of the game you will get the ability to customize your personality, then as the game goes on you could be able to change things about your personality (such as taunts fighting stances etc.). Several buildings would be able to be entered from the outside to rob, shop in, hang out or prevent the robbery of, to ensure a realistic world where buildings can be entered instead of just being there. If playing as a villain there would be the traditional cop meter as used in GTA or Saint's Row that would summon more police as you committed more crimes, similarly if playing as a hero there would be a kind of gang meter that did essentially the same thing and it could involve mafia, I don't know yet. Also by completing side missions that aren't directly related to the story, you can earn special vehicles, costume pieces and even sidekicks/lackeys. This game would not have a level up system, because a level up system hinders how well you participate in the world that you are in. I do not have a definite storyline quite yet, I am working on one. I think that the city you are planted in would have to be an island city so that the player can't wander too far out of the area. Also there may be an alter ego system where at one point you are a mild-mannered citizen and some sort of signal would flash on the screen showing that a crime is happening. If this is to happen there would have to be some sort of change point in the levels (such as a phone booth, or an alleyway or in your base). The game does not have an official title as of yet, but the working title for it is "Hero: The Uprising."

I like this idea, but there are several games trying to do that. The company that made “City Of Heroes” is trying to do a similar thing for the X-Box 360 and PS3. Also, one might say, that Prototype and “Unnamed Hero Game” (that’s the last Title a heard it called, it might have been canceled I don’t know) are trying for the same type of thing.

This Idea gives me another Idea. Why not instead of a hero the player is a robot. The player can choose the physical characteristics as well as what parts it starts out with. Heck you can even make it so the players can program different parts of the robot to automate different actions. Kinda like a “macro”, but more powerful. For example the player could program rockets (threw the rocket launcher) to look for certain enemies or parts of enemies. Why force the player to be good or evil, allow the player to do evil things and good things. If the player does enough good things then there is a rank up system that allows the player to get parts and ammo from the city. Good missions aren’t missions as such, they just happen and the player can stop them or not. If the player does enough evil things then there is a rank up system that allows the player to get special parts and ammo from the black market as well as allowing the player to get missions from the Mafia. The cool thing tough would be if the player can take parts, weapons, and ammo from enemies. There can even be a “Mega Man” style system where when the player defeats a boss then the player gets access to some new part that can only be received this way. Like have a boss that can jump really high, when the player kills him then the player can equip that part.

It's a decent idea, monsieur. Unfortunately, I like your competition's ideas a bit better. Even though, you've got to take that shotgun of yours and saw it off if you get the drift. Instead of the cross between Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow and Every Single Mega Man game, what about allowing players to mix and match different ASPECTS of the enemies and bosses they fell. Perspective: the deflective capabilities of the Onslaught system worn by a boss in particular(ok, wtvr. stolen from MvC), and the high pressure fire shot from a former NPC ally, shoes, gloves, head, color, wtvr. It could even add to that good and evil aspect in interesting ways if you're clever: each part has a rating, too much of one triggers things to happen around you. Ex: The armor gives off 40 red vibes, the fire shot give off 10 blue vibes= 30 red vibes. 20 red vibes required for a troupe of laid off super heroes to set a trap for you, the one who took all the work load leading to an insufficient upgrade flow, subsequently costing them their jobs. Good ideas, both ya.
